There is large variability in the availability and use of land assets between areas, countries and land management systems. In addition, differences in socio-economic situations, such as wealth, diploma of industrialisation, establishments and governance, have an effect on the capability to reply to climate change, food insecurity, land degradation and desertification. Rapid reductions in anthropogenic greenhouse fuel emissions that restrict warming to “well-below” 2°C would significantly reduce the unfavorable impacts of local weather change on land ecosystems . In the absence of rapid emissions reductions, reliance on large-scale, land-based, climate change mitigation is projected to extend, which might irritate current pressures on land . Climate change mitigation efforts that require massive land areas (e.g., bioenergy and afforestation/reforestation) are projected to compete with existing uses of land .
